Starfall
Starfall is a free public service to teach children to read with phonics. There are four main sections to the site; ABC’s, Learn to Read, It’s Fun to Read and I’m Reading. Children have an activity to do for all levels of reading. It uses visual representation of letters, colour coating and highlighting, auditory cues, picture connections and proper pronunciation and combination of letters and words.

PBS kids is targeted for students in K-5. This website is extensive and many of the activities and games can be easily incorporated to reinforce lessons and contains sections that pertain to each section of the curriculum. The activities and games are very fun and engaging, all the while being educational. Students get to pick their favourite TV character and have activities centered around that show.

Story Place
This website is presented by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library. It is a digital library in a sense, with interactive activities using online stories and activities, as well as take-home activities (arts and crafts, printable worksheets) and reading lists. These stories, activities and reading lists are based around themes, such as animals, babies, bath time, music, shapes and many more. Under each theme, there is a parent’s activity link as well.
